This college football offseason has been nothing short of wild, with players falling like dominoes daily. Guys are leaving their current teams, entering the transfer portal, committing to new schools, flipping elsewhere, and then officially signing all over again. It’s been a nonstop whirlwind, and there are still plenty more moves expected as the week goes on.
One of the more notable and somewhat curious developments, though, was former Ohio State quarterback commit Dylan Raiola switching schools yet again. The former Nebraska Cornhuskers quarterback has now officially signed with another Big Ten program, the Oregon Ducks. Raiola’s move to Oregon was unexpected and doesn’t make a ton of sense at first glance, especially with Oregon’s current quarterback, Dante Moore, still undecided on the NFL Draft. If Moore stays in Eugene, the question becomes whether Raiola and Moore can coexist in the same quarterback room, which would be something to watch closely.
If Moore does declare for the draft, Raiola taking over the Oregon offense makes sense in theory. He’s a big body quarterback with legitimate arm talent, but the turnovers and sacks he took at Nebraska were concerning. That said, I do see the vision for Raiola getting his career back on track. If he ends up sitting for a year behind Moore, that might not be the worst thing for his development as a player.

As a prospect, Raiola was the No. 7 overall player in the 2024 class and the No. 2 quarterback nationally. He had been committed to Ohio State since 2022 before flipping to Georgia, then decommitting and ultimately signing with Nebraska. Commitment questions have followed Raiola throughout his career, even dating back to high school, where he played at four different schools across Texas, Arizona, and Georgia.
Now, Raiola heads to Oregon to play under Dan Lanning, hoping to rewrite his story, shake the Mahomes copycat narrative, and simply play efficient, winning football.
