Last year wasn’t the season the Washington Huskies men’s basketball team envisioned given the offseason it had.
The Huskies had the 24th-ranked recruiting class in the country, per 247Sports, in between their Class of 2025 commitments, transfer portal additions and international commitments.

Due to a series of factors, Washington wasn’t able to parlay the talent into a successful season, and the Huskies finished 16-17 and missed out on the NCAA tournament.
Washington will hope this season has better fortunes as it looks to make the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2019.
While the Huskies are attempting to do that, one of the transfer portal acquisitions from last offseason will be looking to continue his career overseas.
Former UW guard Quimari Peterson, who played one year in the Pacific Northwest, has signed overseas to play with Hubo Limburg United in Limburg, Belgium.

Limburg United is a part of the BNXT League, which is the first tier of basketball in Belgium, which operates on promotion and relegation system similar to soccer.
The 6-foot-1 guard transferred to Washington after spending 2021-22 with Indiana State and two seasons from 2023-25 with East Tennessee State. During his last season with the Buccaneers from ’24-25, Peterson averaged 19.5 points on 46.8% shooting from the floor (42.2% from 3-point range) across 32 games (all starts). He also averaged 4.5 rebounds, 3.7 assists and two steals per contest.
Following that solid season, Peterson was named the Southern Conference Player of the Year.

The Gary, Ind., native wasn’t quite able to replicate his offensive numbers he had in the Southern Conference with the Huskies, but was one of the only players to register minutes in all 33 games, which was much-needed for a team that had several games where it was down to seven or eight scholarship players due to injuries.
In his 33 games (18 starts) on Montlake, Peterson averaged 30.9 minutes of playing time per contest. He put up 9.2 points on 38.9% shooting from the floor (35% from beyond the arc) in addition to 2.8 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.3 steals. He was also one of the team’s most consistent perimeter defenders, particularly against some of the top guards and wings Washington went up against in Big Ten competition.
Peterson ran out of eligibility at the conclusion of the season. His departure, in addition to several other players either running out of eligibility or entering the transfer portal, left UW with nine spots to fill on the roster. The team filled out the roster this past week.
