Fran McCaffery, Penn knock off Yale, punch ticket to NCAA Tournament

Fran McCaffery just keeps on dancing.

The former Iowa Hawkeyes men’s basketball coach has joined a rare group with Penn’s win over Yale today in the Ivy League Tournament championship game to punch a ticket to the NCAA Tournament. McCaffery joins an exclusive group of coaches to have taken five teams to the NCAA Tournament, as he has done so with Lehigh, UNC Greensboro, Siena, Iowa, and now Penn.

The Penn Quakers, who looked dead in the water late in the game, rallied on the shoulders of two TJ Powers three-point makes to force overtime, where they pulled away late for an 88-84 win to secure the Ivy League Tournament championship and a date in the NCAA Tournament next weekend.
