Francis Ngannou is eager to remind everyone he’s still the top dog in MMA’s heavyweight division.
The reigning lineal champion hasn’t stepped into the cage since his PFL debut in October 2024, when he stopped Renan Ferreira in the first round. Francis Ngannou is set for a seemingly routine return to the cage this weekend.

He’ll be taking on Philipe Lins, who hasn’t fought since 2022 and hasn’t secured a win at heavyweight since 2018. Not surprisingly, Lins is viewed as a big underdog heading into this matchup.
Ngannou, though, sees an opportunity to make more than just a comeback. He believes that how he handles Lins will reinforce his place as MMA’s top heavyweight.

Ngannou Eager to Make a Statement in His Return
When asked by a reporter about how excited he was to remind people of his status as lineal champion, Ngannou didn’t hesitate in his reply.
“I’m very excited about that,” the former UFC heavyweight titleholder replied. “I’ve been preparing myself for that. Now we are ready.

“We are just three days away from going out there and showcasing that.”

The former UFC heavyweight and light heavyweight champion will be part of the broadcast team for Netflix’s first MMA event.
“It’s going to be interesting to see Jon Jones in the same arena watching,” Ngannou said.
“It’s very interesting to see how it’s going to be. We’ll see. It’ll be great.”
No matter what happens, fans are likely to keep calling for a fight between him and Jon Jones.
