When he played college football at Penn State, linebacker LaVar Arrington looked like a man playing against boys. That is just one of the reasons he is recognized as one of the top linebackers to ever come through Happy Valley and uphold the tradition of Linebacker U. Now, the tradition stays in the family, with LaVar Arrington II already turning heads in his first spring football practices with the Nittany Lions.
Penn State opened spring football practices this week, which means we have gotten our first real glimpses of some of the newest additions to the program in this capacity. Among the early enrollees this spring has been Arrington II. Arrington II was likely hard to miss not just because he is already wearing the signature no. 11 to carry on the ST1X C1TY tradition as a Penn State linebacker, but because of his stature in the Penn State pads. Simply put, he already looks fit for the part of playing a key role in the defensive gameplan upon his arrival in State College.
Just look at him!
Arrington II was a three-star recruit according to 247Sports, On3, and Rivals. He chose Penn State over offers from Tennessee, UCLA, Oregon, Michigan, and more. Penn State, of course, was always viewed as a strong candidate for his commitment given his father’s connection to the program.

LaVar Arrington was an All-American linebacker for the Nittany Lions from 1997 and 1999 and was enshrined in the College Football Hall of Fame. The 1999 unanimous All-American won the Butkus Award and the Chuck Bednarik award before going on to be the no. 2 overall pick in the 2000 NFL draft.
