Freshman point guard becomes 4th Missouri women’s basketball player to enter transfer portal

Missouri women’s basketball’s tally of outgoing players reached four on Thursday as freshman point guard Londyn Oliphant officially has entered the transfer portal, a team spokesperson confirmed to the Columbia Daily Tribune.

Oliphant only played six times for Mizzou during her rookie campaign after sustaining a concussion during the Tigers’ nonconference slate and never returning to the court after a Dec. 7 game against Northern Illinois. The news that Oliphant had entered the portal was first reported by PowerMizzou.

The Tigers now have two point guards with the potential to be on the roster for next season, as Averi Kroenke can return and the Tigers have signed Class of 2025 point guard Nikki Kerstein out of high school.

Oliphant joins three other 2024-25 reserves as Mizzou’s outgoing transfers. Backup combo guard Tilda Sjokvist, forward Hilke Feldrappe and center Lucija Milkovic — none of whom averaged more than 10 minutes per game last season — each also have entered the transfer portal.

That has opened up more room for new head coach Kellie Harper to work with in the transfer portal, which opened Tuesday and runs through April 23, as she attempts to rebuild the program after a six-year absence from the NCAA Tournament.

Tennessee basketball coach Kellie Harper sends out instructions during the NCAA college basketball game against LSU on Sunday, February 25, 2024 in Knoxville, Tenn.

Because of the expected approval of revenue sharing, college basketball rosters will be capped at 15 players starting next season.

Between the Tigers’ current eligible returners and one-player high school signing class, Mizzou has eight players able to play next season. If no other players transfer out of the program, Missouri can add seven players out of the portal and remain within the roster limit.

Mizzou’s possible returners and signees are point guards Kroenke and Kerstein; guards Grace Slaughter, Abbey Schreacke and Ashton Judd; forwards Ma’Riya Vincent and Hannah Linthacum; and center Tionna Herron.
