The Seton Hall Report
Your Georgetown Hoyas head to Newark tonight to face a Seton Hall squad fighting for an NCAA Tournament bid. The Pirates stand at 18-9 overall and are tied for fourth in the Big East. They are currently viewed as a bubble team, listed as one of the “next four” out in a recent projection.
Head Coach Shaheen Holloway has built a defensive-minded group. Seton Hall ranks 12th in adjusted defensive efficiency. The Pirates recently held Butler to 30.2% shooting from the floor. Adam “Budd” Clark paces the Seton Hall attack with 12.7 points per game and 4.8 assists per game. Clark recently recorded a 31-point performance against Providence with eight assists and five steals. Seton Hall can struggle offensively, ranking last in the conference with 71.1 points per game. They recently suffered a 69-57 loss to DePaul where Holloway noted his team looked like they were in “quicksand”.

What’s at Stake for Georgetown
Many of the Georgetown faithful have said this team continues to show offensive growth. The Hoyas shot 56.7% from the field and scored 89 points in Wednesday’s loss to Butler. The defensive end remains a work in progress, as the Bulldogs shot 55.9% in that contest.
Tonight presents a different challenge against a physical Seton Hall defense. The Pirates force a turnover on 22.1% of opponent possessions. KJ Lewis (15.5 ppg) and Malik Mack (14.0 ppg) must value the basketball. Vince Iwuchukwu (11.7 ppg, 5.8 rpg) and Caleb Williams (5.3 rpg) will battle Stephon Payne (7.2 rpg) on the glass. A win at the Prudential Center would mark a nice step forward for Ed Cooley’s program.
