Geno Auriemma has led a dynasty with the UConn Huskies women’s basketball program.
UConn is fresh off a national championship victory, led by Auriemma and his star-studded core of Paige Bueckers and Azzi Fudd.

After helping UConn win the national title, Bueckers made her way to the WNBA.
She was selected by the Dallas Wings with the No. 1 overall pick, leaving Auriemma and the Huskies after four seasons at the collegiate level.
As Bueckers embarks on her WNBA journey, Auriemma reflected on the impact she made on the Huskies’ women’s basketball program.
While Auriemma shared high praise for Bueckers, he also shared a hilarious comparison for the now Wings star.
Auriemma compared Bueckers to Dennis the Menace, a young comic-strip character who is known for mischief.
“You know, charming, cute kid, means well, but just cannot help themselves,” Auriemma said, per Sean Gregory at Time Magazine. “They have to do something on the court, off the court, say something to let you know that there’s some mischief lurking in there.”

Bueckers may not be known for her defensive prowess, and may have trouble at times with efficiency, which Auriemma has been vocal about, but she’s an electric scorer.

On the offensive end, Bueckers is one of the most talented players in women’s basketball, both in the scoring and playmaking realms.
During her final season with the Huskies, Bueckers posted 19.9 points, 4.4 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game.
Bueckers led UConn to a blowout victory over South Carolina in the national title game, defeating the Gamecocks, 82-59, in her final college basketball game.
