Geno Auriemma and UConn Huskies have always produced some of the best talents in women’s basketball. Coach Auriemma has led the Huskies since 1985. In over 40 years of tenure, he has trained, coached and improved countless number of players.
Geno Auriemma has shaped the career of numerous student athletes who have gone on to have some of the greatest WNBA careers. But on the flip side, there are many teams and players who aren’t so fond of Geno Auriemma.

College basketball rivalries run deep in players long after they have graduated. So whenever a player gets a chance to support his or her college team or put down their rival team, their passion jumps out. Something similar happened when Lynx duo of Kayla McBride and Liatu King from Notre Dame spoke to the media recently.
The reporter mentioned how Lynx have had a bunch of UConn alums in their ranks over the years. He then proceeded to ask whether Notre Dame is catching up.
Kayla McBride did not waste any time to make her feelings clear for Auriemma’s team. She boo’d Huskies by both her gesture of thumbs down as well as verbally.

Then reporter mentioned how there are three Notre Dame alums in Lynx including second draft pick Olivia Miles. However, he rephrased and said 2.5 instead of 3 as Olivia Miles played for TCU as well.
To this, Liatu King replied, “I think it’s super nice not even just here but in the league in general how many Notre Dame alums you got. It just all props to the program.”
“It’s just been such a good program for at least the last decade so we take a lot of pride in it, especially the pros that are in the league no, where we came from,” McBride added with a waive for the Huskies.

From Diana Taurasi, Sue Bird, Maya Moore, Breanna Stewart, Tina Charles, Swin Cash, Rebecca Lobo to more recent names like Napheesa Collier, Paige Bueckers, Azzi Fudd, the list goes on. With Huskies contributing since many years, some of the other teams who have had huge impact in producing talents are Tennessee, Stanford, Duke. One of the teams who have had more recent influx of players in WNBA is Notre Dame.
