Georgia rises in SEC football rankings after landing 4-star safety commit

The Georgia Bulldogs have moved up the national recruiting rankings after earning a recent commitment from four-star safety recruit Kealan Jones. Jones committed to Georgia on G-Day, which is Georgia football’s annual spring scrimmage, so the news may have evaded many Georgia fans.

Jones is head coach Kirby Smart and Georgia football’s sixth commitment in the class of 2026. The Bulldogs have a long way to go in the 2026 recruiting cycle like most other schools, but UGA is starting to build its foundation.

Right now, the LSU Tigers are leading the pack in terms of SEC football recruiting. The Tigers and the Texas A&M Aggies are the only SEC schools ranked in the top 10 right now, but fans should expect that to change. During the most recent recruiting cycle (class of 2025), the SEC finished with seven signing classes ranked among the nation’s top 10 and the 2026 cycle’s final team rankings should end up looking similar to the class of 2025.
