Georgia’s top recruiting needs after landing 16 commitments

The Georgia Bulldogs finished up an outstanding recruiting month in June. Georgia has 26 commitments in the class of 2026 and the nation’s No. 2 recruiting class after landing 16 commitments in June.

Despite Georgia’s impressive June, the Bulldogs still have several critical recruiting targets left. What are Georgia’s top remaining recruiting needs?

Georgia’s No. 1 priority is linebackers. The Dawgs have just one linebacker commitment currently. UGA usually signed three linebacker prospects per recruiting cycle. Georgia’s top remaining linebacker target is five-star Grayson High School standout Tyler Atkinson, who is yet to set his commitment date.

Additionally, Georgia only has one running back commitment, so the Bulldogs could target another back in conjunction with four-star commit Jae Lamar.

Another position to watch is offensive line. Georgia has four commits along the offensive front, but could look to add one more lineman.

Georgia is expected to target another wide receiver. The Bulldogs have just three receiver commitments. UGA has signed at least three wide receivers in each of the past four recruiting classes. Five-star tight end Kaiden Prothro is nearing his commitment and could double as a receiver for Georgia. He’s Georgia’s top remaining pass catcher target.

Georgia Bulldogs head coach Kirby Smart gives a thumbs up

Georgia appears to be set with specialists. The Dawgs have commitments from three-star punter Wade Register and three-star kicker Harran Zureikat. Georgia’s six defensive back commitments is plenty, but four of UGA’s defensive back commitments are safeties, which feels a bit crowded.

Coach Kirby Smart and Georgia already have seven commitments along the defensive line, which is more than Georgia typically signs. However, Georgia is still expected to be in the race for four-star defensive line recruit Valdin Sone.
