Golden Knights Veteran Defenseman Labeled Day-To-Day With Upper-Body Injury

by

Vegas Golden Knights defenseman Alex Pietrangelo missed Thursday night’s encounter against the Ottawa Senators with an upper-body injury and is listed as day-to-day.

Pietrangelo picked up the ailment against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Wednesday. The two teams battled in a physical game, each feeling the other team should have been penalized for certain hits.

In the second period, Pietrangelo was on the receiving end of multiple big hits which clearly shook him up but took a puck in the face near the end of the game that did quite a bit of damage. The Golden Knights haven’t clarified which could have resulted in the injury but for now, the 34-year-old is listed as day-to-day.

The King City, ON native has scored two goals and 14 points in 19 games. He’s tied for the team lead in points among defensemen (with Shea Theodore) and is fifth on the team.

Robert Hagg was called up from the Henderson Silver Knights before the game and skated with Kaedan Korczak on the team’s third pairing. He recorded five hits and two blocks in 8:59 of time on ice.

The 29-year-old defender signed a two-way contract with the Golden Knights in the offseason and has started the 2024-25 campaign in the AHL, notching a goal and eight points in 14 games.

No other information was given regarding Pietrangelo’s injury. The extent of his injury and possible return date is still in question.
