US Nationals Day 5 Finals: Gretchen Walsh Equals American Record in Women’s 50 Freestyle
Gretchen Walsh and Torri Huske head-to-head once again, this time with American record holder Kate Douglass and Simone Manuel looming.
It was poised to be a fantastic finish to the women’s portion of the 2025 U.S. National Championships on Saturday night in Indianapolis.
Walsh pulled ahead and equaled Douglass’ American record of 23.91, breaking the U.S. Open and meet record set by Abbey Weitzeil along the way (24.00).
Huske was second in 23.98, her first time under 24 and also ahead of the previous U.S. Open record.
Douglass finished third in 24.04, ahead of Manuel (24.39) in a very fast final.
