Throughout Gui Santos’ third NBA season, a group of Brazilian filmmakers has been documenting his journey, putting together a series that follows the Warriors forward, as Danny Emerman of The San Francisco Standard writes.
His role has grown significantly in recent months after Jimmy Butler suffered a torn ACL, giving Santos an unexpected opportunity for extended minutes.
The episodes are released on YouTube with English subtitles, and Santos said both he and his family back in Brazil have been closely following along.
“It’s on the internet, so that’s one thing that’s never going to get lost,” Santos told Emerman.
“So, when I’m 50 years old or 40 years old, sit with my grandsons on the sofa just watching that: ‘Look, your grandpa was strong, your grandpa was playing in the NBA.’ That will be nice.“
Santos has played 3 seasons for the Warriors. He has averaged 6.3 points and 3.3 rebounds in 145 regular-season games.
