Harvard Adds Butterflyer/Backstroker Serene Jourdy to Class of 2031
NEW COMMIT: Harvard University has collected a new verbal commitment* for the 2027-28 season and beyond from Junior National qualifier Serene Jourdy of Chappaqua, New York. Jourdy specializes in butterfly and backstroke.
She will join Amelia Gipson has a member of the Crimson’s Class of 2031.
Regarding her commitment, she said:
“I am beyond excited and honored to announce my verbal commitment to the admissions process to continue my academic and athletic career at Harvard University. This journey has meant so much to me, and I am beyond grateful for every person who has supported me including my amazing parents and sister, friends, teammates, teachers, and coaches. Thank you to Coaches Carle and Michael for believing in me, driving me, and helping me grow into the athlete and person I am today. A special thank you to Coach Amanda and Coach Geordie for giving me the opportunity to join such an incredible team and community. This is truly a dream come true! GO CRIMSON!!”
Jourdy, who does her club swimming with Westchester Aquatic Club, was the 200 fly runner-up at the TYR Senior Mets Meet and competed at Juniors East back in December. Last summer, she earned three second-swims at the Senior Mets Summer Championships before going on to final in four events and earn four best times at Greensboro Futures.
Jourdy was selected to USA Swimming’s annual National Diversity Select Camp in 2024.
Her best times include:
- 50 fly – 25.69
- 100 fly – 54.92
- 200 fly – 2:01.02
- 100 back – 55.54
- 200 back – 2:01.79
Currently a junior at Horace Greeley High School, Jourdy earned silver in the 100 fly and bronze in the 100 back at the 2025 New York State Championships. She placed fourth and eighth, respectively, in those events at the state meet during her freshman season.
Harvard placed third at the 2026 Ivy League Championships.
