Former Missouri women’s basketball and Rock Bridge girls hoops star Sophie Cunningham made her third appearance for the Indiana Fever on Wednesday, as her team lost 83-77 to the Washington Mystics in Indianapolis.

For the third straight game, Cunningham entered the game off the bench. She had two points, both coming from the free throw line as she went 0-of-3 shooting from the field.

The former Tiger and Bruin also had three rebounds, one assist, one steal, two turnovers and picked up five fouls during 20 minutes on the court.

The Fever, who are currently playing without an injured Caitlin Clark, are now 2-3.

Washington’s Brittney Sykes, a Syracuse alum who played at the same time Cunningham was with Mizzou, led all scorers with 21 points. Auburn grad DeWanna Bonner led the Fever with an 18-point performance.

Cunningham is averaging 5.3 points and 4.0 rebounds per game with the Fever since making her debut May 20 against the Atlanta Dream.

She was involved in one of the WNBA’s marquee offseason trades as she made the move from the Phoenix Mercury to join the Fever. Cunningham is playing in her seventh season in the league, with this year being her first away from Phoenix.

Cunningham recently was announced as a member of Missouri Athletics’ 2025 Hall of Fame Class. The Rock Bridge High grad is the Mizzou women’s basketball team’s all-time leading scorer with 2,187 points. The Tigers have not been to the NCAA Tournament since Cunningham graduated in 2019.

Indiana next plays at 6:30 p.m. Friday against the Connecticut Sun in Indianapolis.
