Holly Holm will have her eyes peeled for Ronda Rousey and Gina Carano’s MMA return.
Former UFC bantamweight champion Rousey (12-2) takes on Carano (7-1) in a featherweight bout which headlines Netflix’s first-ever MMA event on May 16 at Intuit Dome. Rousey hasn’t competed since 2016, and Carano will make the walk for the first time since 2009.

Holm, who handed Rousey her first career loss when she dethroned her with a head kick knockout at UFC 193, broke down the matchup.
“I think whoever sticks to their game plan is going to come out with the win,” Holm told Fight Hype. “Gina hasn’t been in there in a long time, but she’s also not a stranger to the spotlight. She was one of the first females to be on cable television as a main event, and so she’s been there. She’s not a stranger to it.
“Same thing with Ronda. She’s been the champion. She’s been an Olympian for a reason. She’s put a lot of work in. She is very hard to beat with, you know, with what her best skill set is. Gina’s going to have to fight to not get there, and she’s putting the work in. Ronda, we’ll see when she comes back, too. I think we’ll see as soon as the first punches are thrown. I think you can really see it where a fight is going to go from there.”
Since parting ways with the UFC in January 2025, Holm (34-3-3, 9 KOs) has gone back to her boxing roots. She picked up a win over Yolanda Vega, then lost to Stephanie Han (12-0, 3 KOs) by technical decision for the WBA lightweight title in January. Holm will run things back with Han in the MVPW-03 headliner May 30 in El Paso, Texas.
