Charlotte Hornets president of basketball operations Jeff Peterson, who took over in March 2024, saw Charlotte win just 19 games in his first full season, but he maintained belief in the organization’s direction and isn’t surprised by the team’s improvement in 2025/26, he told Roderick Boone of The Charlotte Observer.

“The thing that excites me the most or brings me the most joy is that we implemented the process when I first got here in multiple different facets of the organization, and we’ve been able to stick to those processes,” Peterson said.

“That doesn’t mean that the result is always what we want it to be. But I sleep well knowing that we had a process going into the draft, and trade deadline and free agency, and we were able to execute what we wanted to execute.

“So, I’m not necessarily surprised that the team looks better this year. Not surprised because the process started when I first got here, but even this past summer. I’ve never been a part of a team where the entire team was here this summer working. And that was on their own.”
