This showdown between the Dream (6-2) and the Fever (4-4) marked the sides’ first meeting since Indiana eliminated Atlanta from the WNBA playoffs last September. The Fever‘s upset win in the best-of-three series keyed Indiana’s surprise run to the semifinals — without Clark, who had been ruled out for the season due to a groin strain.

The Dream’s response — trading two draft picks to the Chicago Sky in exchange for Reese — has helped Atlanta surge to the top of the WNBA standings, while the Fever have struggled defensively amid an inconsistent start to the 2026 season.
But on Thursday, Clark and the Fever got the better of Reese and the Dream, demonstrating once more that Indiana really might be Atlanta’s kryptonite as both teams jostle for position in the title conversation.

Caitlin Clark stats vs Fever
Final score: Fever 83. Dream 71
Clark missed her first two shots before she drilled a 20-foot step-back jumper to even the score at six apiece. That was her only hit of the first quarter, though she did pick up two assists.
In the second quarter, Clark attempted just three shots, but she made two of them. She also added three more assists to her tally and grabbed her second personal foul as the Dream targeted her on the defensive end.
Clark battled through the first half with an upset stomach. The Prime Video broadcast revealed that she threw up after she put up some practice shots shortly before the third quarter began.
Perhaps that was the jolt Clark needed after the relative indifference of her first 20 minutes. She hit a difficult mid-range jumper before the Fever began a decisive run to pull away from the Dream.
Clark was central to Indiana’s 9-0 run in the middle of the third, as she scored one basket and assisted two more. She was visibly pumped as Atlanta called a timeout with the score at 49-43, going over to chest-bump Stephanie White — and reasserting that the coach and the franchise player get along just fine.
In the fourth quarter, Clark went 1-for-3 from the floor and assisted a Sophie Cunningham 3-pointer as the Fever kept the Dream at arm’s length.
