How Maryland transfer addition Caleb Wheatland fits with Auburn football, LB depth chart

Listed as a top-10 transfer prospect at his position, Wheatland played three productive seasons for the Terrapins, logging 100 total tackles, 15.0 tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks, 3 pass breakups and a fumble recovery in 35 games.

A consensus three-star recruit out of high school, Wheatland chose Maryland over offers from Kent State, Liberty, Old Dominion, UMass and Utah State, among others.

Wheatland becomes the eighth scholarship linebacker on Auburn‘s roster, and his senior status was needed, as the Tigers had just one other linebacker, Robert Woodyard Jr., listed as an upperclassman.
