How to watch Georgia WBB vs Kentucky in 2nd round of SEC Tournament

by

The SEC Women’s Tournament kicked off on Wednesday, March 4, in Greenville, S.C., but Georgia doesn’t take the hardwood until Thursday.

The Lady Bulldogs (22-8, 8-8 SEC) finished their best regular season campaign under coach Katie Abrahamson-Henderson in her four-year tenure to earn themselves the 8-seed and a first-round bye.

Georgia is also ranked in the USA Today Coaches Poll at No. 22, with predictions having them as high as a 7-seed in the latest NCAA Women’s Tournament bracketology.

The field for the NCAA women’s basketball tournament is slated to be unveiled at 8 p.m., Sunday, March 16, but first they must survive some rematches.

“The SEC Tournament, who wants to do that?” Abrahamson-Henderson said March 1 after beating Florida to close the regular season. “It’s just, I mean, no, I don’t think any coach in our league really wants to go and play each other again. We just got to focus on us. I always tell them, one game at a time. Even today, Texas A&M beat Ole Miss, and nobody thought that would happen. The SEC us very dangerous, and at any point, anybody can win.”

On deck is Kentucky.

The last time the Lady Bulldogs and Wildcats met in the SEC Tournament was March 6, 2024, where then-No. 12 Kentucky came out with the 12-point win on then-No. 13 Georgia.

This season, Lady Bulldogs beat the Wildcats, 72-67, in Lexington, Ky., when Kentucky was ranked in the country’s top 15. The Wildcats also finished the season 22-8 overall, earning the 9-seed in the conference tournament and decimating 16-seed Arkansas, 94-64, in the first round.

Kentucky has held its own this season, only losing four games since playing Georgia by slim margins. The Wildcats fell to No. 5 Vanderbilt twice, 84-83 on Feb. 5 and then 81-79 on Feb. 22 — Georgia beat the Commodores on Feb. 15, 76-74. They also managed to hang on with No. 3 South Carolina, only losing 60-56 on March 1 — Georgia fell to the Gamecocks on Jan. 11, 65-43.
