Rhode Island Rams (13-4, 2-3 Atlantic 10) vs. Davidson Wildcats (12-5, 2-2 Atlantic 10)
The Rhode Island Rams will look to bounce back from their 81-77 loss at Loyola-Chicago this week when they host the Wildcats Saturday afternoon.
Rams guard and Hendricken grad Sebastian Thomas aims to extend his run of consecutive seven games with 20 points or more. He is averaging 18.8 points per game, second in the Atlantic 10 behind Saint Louis’ Jimerson Gibson (18.9), and 21.2 ppg since the start of A-10 play.
David Fuchs returned from a toe injury at Loyola and had eight points and 10 rebounds off the bench in the loss — the sixth time this season he has grabbed 10 or more rebounds in a game. But URI guards Quentin Diboundje and Jamarques Lawrence sustained ankle injuries early in the first half at Loyola. Lawrence returned later in the game.
The Wildcats lead the all-time series, 11-9, and are coming off a 79-76 loss at La Salle, despite building a 17-point lead in the first half. Davidson’s big three — Reed Bailey, Connor Kochera and Bobby Durkin — are averaging 18.8, 15.4 and 15.2 points per game, respectively. URI won the last meeting of the teams, 79-74, in North Carolina one year ago.
