How to watch tonight’s WNBA Draft: Paige Bueckers’ pro career to start with Dallas on the clock
The Athletic has live coverage of the 2025 WNBA Draft.
The WNBA’s incoming rookie class is looking stacked. Paige Bueckers was nothing short of sensational for national champion UConn. French prodigy Dominique Malonga is drawing Victor Wembanyama comparisons. Paint presences Kiki Iriafen (USC) and Aneesah Morrow (LSU) dropped video game numbers on their college competition and TCU’s ascendant Hailey Van Lith earned a huge following with her clutch jumper.

Bueckers is the consensus No. 1 pick, which is held by the Dallas Wings. She was a singular force across this year’s college landscape and has been a household name for the past half-decade. She’ll all but certainly bring her winning ways to Dallas, a team that stumbled to 9-31 last year after reaching the semifinals in 2023. That ’23 run was the only time the Wings won a playoff series in nine seasons of existence. Bueckers was originally expected to don the purple and gold — the Los Angeles Sparks had the best lottery odds at 44.2 percent, compared to Dallas and the Chicago Sky at 22.7 percent each.

The Seattle Storm have the second pick, acquiring it from LA in the blockbuster Kelsey Plum trade. They won it all in 2018 and 2020, and now have the chance to add a cornerstone down low in Malonga, Iriafen or Morrow. Historically, this franchise has built around superstar bigs like Lauren Jackson and Breanna Stewart.
Chicago originally had the third pick, but dealt it to the Washington Mystics for Ariel Atkins. That gives the Mystics get back-to-back selections at Nos. 3 and 4 … plus the sixth spot from Atlanta via a 2023 draft night deal. Washington hasn’t won a playoff series since its championship effort in 2019. This draft could yield something special to turn things around.
The top five is rounded out by the W’s newest member, the Golden State Valkyries. The Bay Area’s expansion squad will mint its first player in franchise history Monday night.
