After a packed two-day schedule, the Hulbert Lady Riders basketball summer league wrapped up with a showdown with Tahlequah.

The Lady Tigers won the matchup 40-9 to close out the camp Tuesday, June 2. Even though they took the loss, the Lady Riders were pleased with their progress after playing eight games in two days.

Hulbert and Tahlequah were joined by Braggs, Regent Prep, Jay, Oologah, Eufaula, and Cave Springs. The Lady Riders also had to step into some extra games for teams that weren’t there due to scheduling conflicts.

“We played a lot of games, the last two days,” Lady Rider head coach Joseph McClure said. “Our girls are tired; we’ve had a lot of games.”

Youth is going to be a theme for both the Lady Tigers and Lady Riders in the 2026-’27 season. Both teams are bringing in a big freshman class that is expected to help out once the regular season opens.

By the time they met, the Lady Riders were well-tested in the summer, but the Lady Tigers were playing as a unit for the first time. The 5A Lady Tigers ended on a high note with a big win over the 2A Lady Riders.

“We’re trying to find an identity [at this point in the season],” THS head coach David Qualls said. We’ve got a lot of brand new faces and right now we think our strength is playing up-tempo.”

The Lady Tigers continue team camp next week at Pittsburg State. The Lady Riders continue their summer schedule with team camp, June 8-9 at Drumwright.
