Ice Brady officially out for the season after undergoing knee surgery

by

Ice Brady’s season is officially over. On Tuesday, UConn women’s basketball announced that the redshirt junior forward underwent successful surgery to repair a knee injury at UConn Health on Monday. She will miss the remainder of the 2025-26 campaign.

Brady played in the Huskies’ first two games but sat out the win over Loyola Chicago on Nov. 12 with knee inflammation. Afterwards, Auriemma described the issue as “nothing serious”.

“She has some inflammation in her knee. It’s been bothering her for a little bit now,” he said. “Just gonna wait, day-to-day, and see if it comes down.”

Apparently, it never did. Back in mid-January, Auriemma indicated that neither Brady nor Morgan Cheli, who has not played at all this season, would return.

“If they are (back), I’d be pleasantly surprised,” he said at the time.

Brady missed her entire true freshman season with a dislocated patella in her right knee — the same one that kept her out this year. She should receive a medical redshirt and retain two seasons of eligibility. Brady, now in her fourth year with the program, will participate in UConn’s senior day ceremonies on Sunday alongside Caroline Ducharme, Azzi Fudd, Ayanna Patterson and Serah Williams.

In her career, she’s averaged 4.0 points and 3.1 rebounds in 73 career games.

This is the fifth straight year in which UConn has suffered at least one season-ending injury.
