Illinois’ new defensive coordinator Bobby Hauck is filling out his defensive staff with coaches he’s familiar with.
The Illini named two more assistants on Tuesday.
The first is Mike Linehan, who will be defensive ends coach. He spent three seasons with Hauck at Montana. He started his coaching career in 2020 at San Diego State. Linehan played college football at Idaho and North Texas.
Meantime, Robby Hauck will be an assistant defensive backs coach.
The son of Illinois’ new DC, Hauck is one of the all-time leading tacklers in FCS history and recently served as a special teams coordinator and safeties coach at Portland State.
Hauck has the sixth-most tackles in FCS history and played at Montana from 2018-22.
