Indiana Fever guard Kristy Wallace will sit out the 2025 WNBA season, the team announced Tuesday.
Wallace, a native of Australia who won a bronze medal with the Opals in the 2024 Paris Olympics, was a part-time starter for the Fever last season. She started 15 games near the beginning of the season, averaging 4.7 points and 1.8 rebounds, but fell out of the rotation following the Olympic break.
With the Fever’s acquisitions of Sophie Cunningham and DeWanna Bonner, Wallace likely would have had minimal playing time with the Fever in 2025.

How Fever solved its biggest problem: Indiana got ‘exactly what we needed’ this offseason
“This has not been an easy decision for me, but one that I make knowing it is what is in my best interest at this time,” Wallace said. “I would like to thank the Fever organization for working with me throughout this process, giving me both time and consideration, and for their support of my decision. I look forward to cheering the team on from afar during this upcoming season.”
Wallace is the second WNBA player in recent days to choose to sit out of the 2025 season. Dallas Wings guard Lou Lopez-Senechal also elected to sit out the 2025 season.
She was slated to make around $80,000 in 2025 in the final year of her rookie contract. Her contract will be suspended, so she will not make any money from the Fever this season. When she returns to the WNBA, it will be under the same contract terms and the Fever will retain her rights.
Indiana’s roster now stands at 10 players. It also opens up that $80,000 for the Fever to use on another player ahead of the beginning of the season.
