Indiana Fever Send Parting Message to Caitlin Clark’s Teammate on Tuesday

Caitlin Clark and the new-look Indiana Fever, with head coach Stephanie White now leading the charge, looked like one of the better teams in the WNBA, securing a perfect 3-0 record.

A big part of the Fever’s preseason play was newly acquired guard Sophie Cunningham. The sharpshooter averaged 10.7 points in 20 minutes per game, but gave fans a scare on Saturday after suffering an ankle injury against the Dream.

Cunningham, who spent her first six years in the WNBA with the Phoenix Mercury, was acquired by Indiana as part of a four-team deal. In the same trade, the Fever added guard Jaelyn Brown from the Dallas Wings.

Indiana notably gave up the No. 8 pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft and forward NaLyssa Smith.

Brown played in all three preseason games for Indiana, averaging 3.0 points on 26.6% shooting, 2.3 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 13.7 minutes per contest.

But Brown’s tenure with the Fever was short-lived as she was released by the team on Tuesday. According to Fieldhouse Files’ Scott Agness, Indiana was forced to waive Brown to trim the roster to 11.

“Fever waived Jaelyn Brown to trim the roster to 11. That needed to be done by May 15,” Agness wrote on X. “Expect for them to add a 12th player about a month into the season.”

Shortly after her release, the Fever took to social media to send their farewell to Brown.
