Carver-Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City, Iowa, was the ground floor for the massive spike in popularity that women’s basketball has experienced over the last few years — a phenomenon inextricably linked to Caitlin Clark and her meteoric rise to the heights of the American sports landscape.
Clark made her name as the best player in college basketball twice over, claiming National Player of the Year honors in both her junior and senior campaigns (2022-23, 2023-24). The Iowa Hawkeyes women’s basketball team also made appearances in the Final Four both of those seasons, finishing as the NCAA runners-up on each occasion.

The WNBA draft came calling for Clark, who ended up the No. 1 overall pick and landed with the Indiana Fever. She helped turn that organization around last season, leading the team to a .500 record (20-20) for the first time in eight years and helping the Fever earn a spot in the WNBA playoffs as the No. 6 seed in an eight-team field.
Nothing seems out of reach for Clark and the Fever as the 2025 season approaches. She broke a myriad of records in her first campaign on her way to winning Rookie of the Year honors and a spot on the First-Team All-WNBA squad. Indiana enters the season tied with the Las Vegas Aces for the second-best odds to win the title, trailing only the New York Liberty in that regard.
But before all of that, the franchise has arranged for Clark to return to the University of Iowa, this time with her professional teammates, for a preseason showcase against the Brazil National Team. The Fever took to social media on Thursday, May 1, with a four-word message for all of those anxiously awaiting Clark’s homecoming.
“Iowa, see you soon ♥️,” the team’s official X account posted.

Also included was a message from new Indiana head coach Stephanie White.
“What an experience for those fans who might not be able to make it to any of our WNBA cities,” White said.
The game is scheduled for Sunday, May 4 at 3 p.m. CT and can be viewed on ESPN. Tickets for the contest sold out within an hour of going on sale and are now only available via the secondary market. The cheapest available are currently running at more than $150 each, while the most expensive seats in the house cost upwards of $1,750.
