As part of its latest bit of roster retooling, the Indiana Fever signed two-time All-WNBA Defensive Team selection Brianna Turner.
Turner joins the Fever after spending the 2024 campaign as a member of the Chicago Sky. The 6-foot-3 forward averaged a career-low 9.4 minutes per game and played in just 27 games. Turner finished the 2024 season averaging 1.2 points, 2.0 rebounds and 0.5 blocks per game on 61.5% field goal shooting.
But, the Notre Dame alum has been a highly-productive player in the league over the course of her WNBA career. Turner was drafted No. 11 overall by Atlanta in the 2019 WNBA draft and then was promptly traded to the Phoenix Mercury where she spent the first five seasons of her professional career.
As a member of the Phoenix Mercury, Turner was named to the 2019 WNBA All-Rookie Team and then was named to the 2020 and 2021 All-WNBA Defensive First Teams.
During the 2020 and 2021 WNBA seasons with Phoenix, Turner averaged more than seven points and nine rebounds per game. Turner finished among the league’s top eight in blocks in each of those two seasons.
Turner has career averages of 4.6 points, 6.3 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.2 blocks per game on 58.3% field goal shooting and 63.9% free throw marksmanship.
A proven winner, Turner helped guide Notre Dame to the 2018 NCAA championship.
“I am ecstatic to join the Fever organization and compete for a championship,” Turner said in a statement released by the team. “I was drawn to the team’s commitment to investing in women and providing the best professional atmosphere for success. The front office and coaching staff have assembled a dynamic roster that I’m looking forward to learning from and growing with throughout the season.”
Turner is the latest Fever addition to a roster overhaul that has included three-time champion and two-time All-Star forward Natasha Howard, two-time champion and six-time All-Star forward DeWanna Bonner, two-time champion guard Sydney Colson and sharpshooting guard Sophie Cunningham.
The Fever also re-signed All-Star guard Kelsey Mitchell to begin this offseason.
