In ESPN’s updated Week 1 WNBA power rankings, the Fever made a four-spot climb to rank No. 3 in the latest league power rankings.
The Fever controlled their 93-58 victory Saturday over Chicago pretty much from the start and looked equally good offensively and defensively, with Caitlin Clark getting a triple-double. They face Atlanta twice this week after defeating the Dream by five in the preseason May 10, but Dream center Brittney Griner had just a two-minute cameo in that game. It will be a more interesting matchup with her playing. – Michael Voepel, ESPN.
Clark and the Fever dropped their first game of the season on Tuesday in the first matchup versus the Atlanta Dream, 91-90.
Clark made more history, though, pouring in 27 points and knocking down five 3-pointers along with 11 assists to collect her 16th career double-double. In the process, Clark notched the most career games with 25 or more points and 10 or more assists in WNBA history with six.
Indiana faces Atlanta again on Thursday night before closing the week with a Saturday date against the reigning WNBA champion New York Liberty.
