BLOOMINGTON — The Indiana football team is keeping one eye on the future as it preps for the College Football Playoff.
Coach Curt Cignetti and his staff are busy recruiting players out of the transfer portal to replenish the roster that helped the Hoosiers (11-1; 8-1 Big Ten) have a record-setting here.

Indiana football transfer portal additions
Dec. 15: Indiana football signed Northern Illinois cornerback Amariyun Knighten. He’s a defensive back with 25 career games (14 starts) and two years of eligibility left. He was being courted by a number of other Power Four schools including some of IU’s Big Ten rivals like Maryland, Michigan State and Nebraska.
Dec 15: Indiana added a pair of specialists for 2025 — Texas State kickoff specialists Brendan Franke and UCF punter Mitch McCarthy. The Hoosiers needed to replace longtime starter punter James Evans, who was a four-year starter at the school. They replaced him with a fellow Aussie that has plenty of experience.
Dec. 13: Indiana football wide receiver E.J. Williams withdrew his name from the transfer portal. He left the team in October with plans to take advantage of his redshirt year and sign with another team. Williams, who started out his career at Clemson, has 772 career receiving yards in 45 games.

Indiana football transfer portal departures
Dec 15: Indiana football’s first signee out of the transfer portal was UAB running back Lee Beebe Jr., but according to a report from On3 Sports the running back has decided to re-open his recruitment. The Hoosiers are likely looking to add multiple backs out of the portal this cycle.
Dec. 11: Indiana running back Elijah Green enters the transfer portal. He was the first Hoosiers player during the winter cycle to enter the portal. He was IU’s fourth-leading rusher in 2024 with 201 yards (6.9 yards per carry) and five touchdowns.

Former Indiana football players find new homes
Dec. 14: Former Indiana football receiver Donaven McCulley is staying in the Big Ten and transferring to Michigan. He opted to redshirt after playing in four games this season after coming back from an early season injury. He was IU’s leading receiver in 2023 with 48 passes for 644 yards and six touchdowns.
