Faced with a must-win game in order to keep their College Football Playoff hopes alive, the Alabama Crimson Tide went to Baton Rouge, Louisiana on Saturday night, and left with a dominant 42-13 victory over the LSU Tigers.

A big result for Alabama, this win in Baton Rouge essentially kept the CFP hopes alive for the Crimson Tide, as well as gave their resume yet another impressive, Top 25 win.

Alabama starts fast with big first quarter

A big reason for Alabama’s success in this contest was simply due to the way they started the game. The Crimson Tide marched down the field on the first drive that culminated in a 39-yard touchdown run for Jalen Milroe, and went on to score once again to carry an earl 14-3 lead at the end of the first quarter, putting seven points on the board in both of their first two drives.

Jalen Milroe torches LSU defense again

Speaking of Milroe, the Alabama quarterback torched the LSU defense once again on the ground Saturday night, rushing for 185 yards and four scores on 12 attempts. Milroe also completed 12-of-18 passes for 109 yards.

Alabama linebackers Jihaad Campbell, Deontae Lawson impress

The linebacker duo of Jihaad Campbell and Deontae Lawson were a major story against LSU, as both impressed in their own right. Not only did both rank among Alabama’s top tacklers, but Campbell recorded 1.5 sacks, while Lawson had a big interception.

Alabama dominates LSU in the running game

On a night where the weather was a story, Alabama established the run early Saturday night, and never let up. In all, Alabama out-gained the Tigers a combined 312-104 in total yardage on the ground.

Alabama defense forces timely turnovers

The Crimson Tide defense was back in the turnover column Saturday night, forcing three total. Some of these were timely as well, none of which was bigger than the aforementioned interception by Lawson in the end zone.

Alabama dominates to keep College Football Playoff hopes alive

You rarely see a team come into Tiger Stadium and completely dominate from start-to-finish, and that is simply what Alabama did Saturday night. With this impressive victory, Alabama keeps their College Football Playoff hopes alive, and likely cleared the biggest hurdle remaining on their regular season schedule.
