There is no doubt about it that the 2025-26 Iowa Hawkeyes men’s basketball roster is going to be built upon the foundation of the transfer portal.
New head coach Ben McCollum has been tasked with landing top talent via the portal since he arrived in Iowa City and is doing just that. Whether it is players following him or landing talent from other Power 5 schools, McCollum is constructing a new-look roster at Iowa.

The biggest of those names is former Drake guard Bennett Stirtz, who is following McCollum to Iowa. He is viewed as the No. 2 most impactful transfer in all of college basketball by CBS Sports.

The Missouri Valley Player of the Year during the 2024-25 season, Stirtz is going to be the catalyst for Iowa’s offense this year. After starting his career with McCollum at Northwest Missouri State, Stirtz has gone from an unheralded talent to a player who can be a household name among Big Ten basketball.
