After the departure of Ladell Betts, the Iowa Hawkeyes wasted little time replenishing their coaching staff and making the hire for their new running backs coach.
The Hawkeyes have officially welcomed and announced Omar Young as the new running back coach for the program.
“I am excited to add Omar to our staff. He has a track record of building deep relationships with his players at every level and guiding them to success on and off the field. His wealth of experience in both college and the NFL will benefit our players and our entire program,” said Iowa football head coach Kirk Ferentz about the hire.
“I am grateful to Coach Ferentz and the Hawkeye coaching staff for this opportunity,” Young said. “The Iowa program has a tremendous amount of respect across the country. I am looking forward to continuing the tradition that has been built here over many, many years,” Young said about the opportunity.
Young has an extensive background of coaching in both the NFL and collegiate ranks. He has spent time with the New England Patriots, Chicago Bears, Green Bay Packers, and Cleveland Browns. In the college world, he has worked with Eastern Illinois, Colorado, and South Carolina.
