Following a disappointing finish against Oregon and their fifth consecutive loss, Iowa women’s basketball (12-7, 2-6 Big Ten) finds themselves completely out of the latest USA TODAY Sports Women’s College Basketball Coaches Poll.
The once-promising Hawkeyes season has taken a sharp nosedive recently as the team struggles to hold leads, find consistent and timely offense, and has been plagued by rampant turnovers.
Iowa has the lone opportunity to right the ship before next week’s update to the polls as it travels to Alaska Airlines Arena for a Wednesday night clash at Washington (13-6, 4-3 Big Ten).
As for how the rest of the Big Ten faired in this week’s release, UCLA remains atop the rankings for an eighth consecutive week as the nation’s No. 1 team. Following the Bruins are No. 5 USC, No. 10 Maryland, No. 12 Ohio State, No. 22 Michigan State, No. 24 Minnesota, and No. 25 Nebraska.
Michigan (8 points) stands as the lone Big Ten program receiving votes outside the top 25 in this week’s polling.
