iowa State receives basketball commitment from Marcus Zelee

The future of the Iowa State men’s basketball program continues to grow brighter, as the Cyclones received a commitment from a point guard in the Class of 2026.

Marcus Zelee made his decision on Wednesday night, becoming the third player to commit for 2026 to the Cyclones. The 6-foot-2 point guard informed Rivals of his decision.

“I loved how the coaches didn’t promise me anything,” he told the site. “They told me I’d have to work for everything I get – and to my family and me, that’s what it’s all about.”

Zelee played for Brentwood Christian School in Austin, Texas last year. He also had offers from Arizona State, Drake and Texas A&M Corpus Christi.

Last year as a junior, Zelee averaged 16.6 points per game with eight rebounds, almost six assists and 3.5 steals. He posted 21.3 points with 6.5 rebounds, seven assists and four steals per game as a sophomore.

The 2026 class for Iowa State now includes Zelee and fellow guards Christian Wiggins and Yusef Gray Jr.
