As a testament to her passion and drive to become a head coach at the collegiate level, Iowa women’s basketball assistant coach Abby Stamp was selected to the 2026 Women’s Basketball Coaches Association Next Generation Institute.
The WBCA Next Generation Institute is a high-level education program for experienced assistant coaches who aspire to become collegiate head coaches.

Now in its fourth year, the WBCA Next Generation Institute’s curriculum focuses on the CEO attributes needed to lead a program and solve problems in today’s ever-changing landscape of higher education and the evolving enterprise of intercollegiate athletics.
To be eligible for selection to participate in the program, a person must be a current WBCA member, have at least five years experience as a coach and must be nominated by a current WBCA member.
Stamp is in her 17th year with the Iowa program and her seventh as one of the Hawkeyes’ assistant coaches. Stamp was promoted to assistant coach in 2019 and is responsible for off-campus recruiting, coaching the Hawkeyes’ perimeter players, and film breakdown and scouting.

Prior to being named one of Iowa’s assistant coaches, Stamp spent eight seasons as Iowa’s director of operations and two seasons as director of player development.
This is a tremendous honor for the rising assistant coach and potentially the beginning of a successful future head coaching career. The Institute is held in conjunction with the WBCA Convention, which takes place this year on April 2-5 in Phoenix, Ariz.
