After visiting Iowa City this past weekend, Iowa women’s basketball has gained yet another transfer portal commitment, this time from former Oklahoma State guard Amari Whiting.
The 5-foot-10 senior-to-be from Burley, Idaho, averaged 9.6 points per game on 42.5% shooting from the field, 32.1% from 3-point range, and 71.6% from the free-throw line. Whiting also averaged 5.9 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 1.8 steals per game last season with the Cowgirls.

Before joining Oklahoma State last season, Whiting had spent her first two years of college basketball eligibility at BYU, where she averaged 10.6 and 10.3 points per game in the 2023-24 and 2024-25 seasons, respectively.
The addition of Whiting from the transfer portal is a massive get for the Hawkeyes’ program this offseason, as it provides much-needed depth at the guard positions, which now includes Dani Carnegie, Chit-Chat Wright, Taylor Stremlow, and Journey Houston.
Whiting has played in and started 97 games throughout her collegiate career and arrives in Iowa City with one final season of eligibility remaining.
