There are some fighters you just don’t bet your money on. Unfortunately for UFC lightweight Daniel Zellhuber, he is one of those fighters.
On Saturday, Zellhuber entered the Octagon at UFC Mexico City trying to end a worrisome two-fight losing streak. The Mexican-born fighter was matched up against a 39-year-old King Green, who was 2-3 in his last five UFC fights coming into this weekend. Green did get back into the win column his last time out, but it was hard to ignore Zellhuber’s striking ability and long reach. He seemed like the easy bet, which is why he closed at -410 to capture the win.

Unfortunately for Zellhuber and any poor schmuck who bet their money on him, Green delivered a devastating TKO finish late into the second round. Zellhuber was stunned. Green, and those who took a shot on the aging veteran, walked off with the upset win. You can check out the highlights HERE.
The more alarming takeaway from all of this is the fact that this is not the first (nor the second) time Zellhuber has dropped the ball as a massive betting favorite. In fact, his last outing before UFC Mexico City was a decision loss to 39-year-old veteran Michael Johnson back in July 2025. Zellhuber ended up closing as a ridiculous -900 betting favorite to get past “Menace,” but only ended up landing 52 total significant strikes to Johnson’s 81.
Back in 2022, Zellhuber dropped a shocking decision loss to UFC lightweight Trey Odgen. Zellhuber was undefeated at the time and making his UFC debut. He closed as a -430 betting favorite, but was out-pointed by Ogden and walked away with the first loss of his pro MMA career. Luckily for Zellhuber, he would go on to win his next three UFC fights.

What does all of this mean? Unless you enjoy betting on fights probably nothing. Zellhuber is definitely a talented fighter and one of the toughest guys outside of the lightweight top 15, but he also appears to be one of the worst betting favorites in UFC history.
