The UConn Huskies will be seeking a third championship in four years under Dan Hurley when they meet the top-seeded Michigan Wolverines on Monday night. The game will be an interesting matchup to end the college basketball season, as both teams will be chasing history.

For UConn, another title puts them in the early conversation of being a dynasty. On the other hand, Michigan will try to snap a 26-year drought for Big Ten teams, who are 0-8 since 2000 in championship games.

Unfortunately for UConn, they plan for the worst and hope for the best when it comes to the services of star player Solo Ball. Hurley told reporters he has “some kind of foot sprain” and will not practice Sunday. Ball was in a boot and this will be something to monitor for Monday night, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel.

Ball’s status is surprising given his production on Saturday night. He had 13 points and went 3-of-7 from beyond the arc.

Ball evidently suffered the injury in the first half of the Final Four victory over Illinois after making contact with teammate Tarris Reed Jr. on a screen. “I’m leaving it up to the medical staff and doing everything I can to prepare for tomorrow,” Ball said.

Ball, a second-team All-Big East selection, averaged 12.9 points and 3.1 rebounds while as a starter this season. If he’s unavailable, Ball will be replaced by the tandem of Malachi Smith and Jayden Ross.
