Boston Celtics have reportedly hired former All-Star Isaiah Thomas as a pro and college scout, according to Adam Himmelsbach of The Boston Globe.

Thomas will reportedly work out of the Seattle area while helping Boston evaluate NBA and college prospects.

Sources also told The Boston Globe that Thomas has been attending the NBA Draft Combine in Chicago this week alongside Celtics executives to learn more about the scouting and evaluation process.

Thomas had the best years of his NBA career in Boston, earning two All-Star appearances and second-team All-NBA honors during the 2016-17 season.

However, a hip injury suffered during the playoffs significantly impacted his career, and he was later traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers in the deal involving Kyrie Irving.

The veteran guard later bounced around the league before making his last NBA appearance with the Phoenix Suns during the 2023-24 season.

Brad Stevens has previously credited Thomas for helping build the culture that contributed to Boston’s success over the past decade.

Although Thomas is now joining the Celtics in a scouting role, he has never officially retired as a player.
