EAST MEADOW, NY — Welcome to our New York Islanders live practice blog for Tuesday, Jan. 7, with the team back home before they head to Vegas for their Thursday night showdown with the Vegas Golden Knights.

10:51: The Islanders ran lines:

10:46: Per the NHL media site, F Simon Holmstrom is on IR. Per the Islanders, D Mike Reilly has been moved from IR to LTIR and is eligible to be activated when he’s ready. The Islanders now have an additional roster spot and $1.25 million to work with (Reilly’s cap hit).

10:42: Islanders start their practice with 2-on-2s, which turn into 3-on-2 rush chances. Key here is to drive the net and attack, per head coach Patrick Roy.

10:35: With practice officially starting, F Simon Holmstrom (day-to-day, upper body), George, and G Semyon Varlamov (LTIR, skating on his own) are not present. Hudson Fasching, who left last game in the third, is absent.

10:30: D Grant Hutton, who was placed on waivers Dec. 18, has been recalled. That likely means D Isaiah George (day-to-day, upper-body injury) is not ready to return after entering concussion protocol on Jan. 2.

10:15 – Matt Martin, Pierre Engvall, Kyle MacLean, and I believe Grant Hutton are taking shots on Ilya Sorokin and Marcus Hogberg.
