EAST MEADOW, NY — Following an off day after back-to-back losses, the New York Islanders were back on the practice ice in preparation for their Friday night showdown against the Philadelphia Flyers.

Friday marks the first leg of the Islanders’ second-to-last back-to-back of the season.

They travel to Raleigh to take on the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday night.

However, they will go to battle against Philadelphia without defenseman Tony DeAngelo and forward Simon Holmstrom.

DeAngelo, who sustained a lower-body injury while backchecking against the Chicago Blackhawks in a 4-3 loss on March 24, has not skated. His timeline was 1-2 weeks.

Holmstrom, who suffered an upper-body injury early in their 8-3 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins on Monday but stayed in the game, was unavailable on Tuesday in their 4-3 loss to the Buffalo Sabres.

Head coach Patrick Roy had no further updates on either of his injured players, with their status remaining the same.

He did say that forward Anders Lee, who missed practice due to maintenance, will be good to go.
