The arrival of Atlanta Dream forward Angel Reese and Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark in the WNBA has catapulted the WNBA into one of the most popular sports leagues in the country. The pair also lay claim to the biggest player-to-player rivalry in the league, and fans were treated to the latest iteration last week, when the Fever and Dream faced off in back-to-back games.
Reese got the better of Clark in both games, not only posting impressive stat lines of 21 points and 11 rebounds and 18 points and 18 rebounds in the wins, with Clark struggling immensely on the defensive ends on both ends of the floor.

After making quick work of Clark and the Fever, Reese’s Dream is heading into Monday night’s game against the Toronto Tempo in possession of the third-best record in the league, and Reese appeared on ESPN Today to talk about the experience of dismantling her biggest rival in back-to-back games.
“Yeah, (my teammates) said it felt like a playoff atmosphere. I’ve never played in the playoffs before, but to feel that early on in June felt really good,” Reese said of the second win, which came in blowout fashion in front of the Dream’s home crowd.
“It was really fun,” she added. “I’m so happy everybody were able to come out, and we got the win that night.”
Reese also became the fastest player in league history to reach 1,000 points in the victory, something she said she wasn’t aware of until after the game as the team was focused solely on the win. As focused as Atlanta is, Reese knows the team can take it to another gear still.

“Yeah, I mean, in June we look so great. I’m just wondering who we’ll look like in October and September. I mean, we don’t even have Bri Jones back. And we’ve done such a great job, all 5 starters averaging double figures. And then our bench is also so great. Karl is an amazing coach. The fans here are amazing, so I don’t know how much better it’s gonna look, but I’m excited for what it’s gonna look like in September.”
Clark and the Fever have some things to figure out if they want to compete at the highest level of the sport with Atlanta.
