The International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) is pleased to announce the appointment of Pablo Perez, ITTF Para Table Tennis Events and Classification Manager, to the APSO Classification Commission (ACC).
The newly formed ACC comprises six classification experts from various international federations, ensuring both comprehensive representation and operational efficiency. The Commission will provide expert advice on matters relating to Para sport classification, promoting cross-sport collaboration and the exchange of best practices. Key objectives include regularly evaluating current classification challenges, conducting educational workshops, and initiating studies addressing relevant medical, scientific, and operational issues.
Perez brings extensive experience to the role, having overseen Para table tennis events and classification at the highest level, including the ITTF World Para Circuit, the World Para Championships and the last two Paralympic Games. Prior to his current position at ITTF, Perez also served as the coach of the Spanish Para table tennis national team, international classifier, and classification course conductor.
Established in 2017, APSO represents 21 International Federations and sports organisations, collectively advocating for the interests of Paralympic sports and athletes.
The ACC was officially approved by the APSO Executive Board and, alongside Perez, includes Craig Carscadden, World Ability Sport Head of Development, Simon Goodey, World Rowing Para Rowing Commission Member, Rabia Gulcin, FIS Para Snow Sports Classification Coordinator, Shail Maharaj, World Boccia Classification Committee Member, and Isabella Zens, UCI Classification Coordinator.
The ITTF congratulates Pablo Perez on his appointment and looks forward to contributing to advancing classification practices within the Paralympic Movement.
