Jadyn Ott’s transfer to Oklahoma makes LSU football’s 2025 schedule tougher

by

LSU football’s 2025 schedule just got tougher. On Tuesday, former Cal running back Jadyn Ott transferred to Oklahoma, LSU’s final opponent of the regular season.

According to 247Sports, Ott is the No. 50 ranked transfer in the portal and No. 3 ranked transfer running back.

The Sooners offense was near the bottom of the SEC in 2024. Oklahoma head coach Brent Venables fired offensive coordinator Seth Littrell midseason last year. Oklahoma then hired former Washington State OC Ben Arbuckle. Arriving with Arbuckle was Wazzu transfer quarterback John Mateer.

Now with Mateer and Ott in the backfield, Oklahoma has one of the top QB/RB duos in the conference. LSU will have its hands full when it travels to Norman.

Ott was one of college football’s best running backs in 2023. He ran for 1,315 yards and scored 12 touchdowns. Ott had high expectations entering 2024, but injuries limited the star rusher.

Oklahoma’s offense wasn’t much of a challenge for LSU in 2024, but the 2025 Sooners’ unit is the type LSU struggled with last year. Teams that can spread you out and run the quarterback proved to be difficult for the LSU defense.

LSU fans are still having nightmares from the Texas A&M and Alabama games.

The good news: The LSU defense should take another step in year two under Blake Baker.
