NBA star James Harden was arrested in Houston early Saturday morning and charged with a misdemeanor count of unlawful carrying weapons.
According to court records obtained by The California Post, Harden was taken into custody by the Houston Police Department at approximately 3:41 a.m.
The complaint alleges he was “unlawfully, intentionally and knowingly” in possession of a handgun inside his vehicle.
Authorities further stated that “the handgun was in plain view” and “was not carried in a holster.”
Additional details about the incident were not immediately available, though sources told The Post that Harden had been at a Houston hookah lounge with a large group of friends before the arrest.
Harden was released on bond later Saturday and is scheduled to appear in court for arraignment on June 22.
The 36-year-old currently plays for the Cleveland Cavaliers after being traded from the Los Angeles Clippers in February.
Houston remains a significant part of Harden’s career, as he spent nine seasons with the Houston Rockets, earned multiple All-Star selections, and won the NBA MVP award in 2017-18.
In his first season with Cleveland, Harden helped lead the Cavaliers to the Eastern Conference Finals.
