Jedd Fisch continues push for more financial support for Washington

by

Washington Huskies coach Jedd Fisch has made the rounds in the national media through the offseason and has made it very clear that in order to sustain a high level of success in the Big Ten, the program is going to need an increased financial commitment from its donor base.

On The Triple Option Podcast with FOX Sports personalities Rob Stone, Mark Ingram, and Urban Meyer, Fisch continued to stress that one of the biggest off-field differences in the conference is the type of investment it takes to remain at the top each year.

“We haven’t necessarily had the same financial support with our roster as other programs,” Fisch said.

“We’re still trying to educate the Pacific Northwest outside of Oregon’s Nike deal, but for us, it’s really about trying to get the donor base and the alumni base to understand the financial commitment to be in the Big Ten.”

Heading into Fisch’s third season at the helm, his coaching staff has proven to be among the conference’s best in talent acquisition. Between the 2025 and 2026 classes, the Huskies have signed 20 blue-chip commits—per the 247Sports Composite—with ten more pledged in 2027, but retaining their services won’t be easy…or cheap.

With the Huskies set to receive a half share of the conference’s media rights deal until 2030, Washington will have to rely heavily on its donor base to bridge the gap in funding, while continuing to build around players like quarterback Demond Williams Jr., offensive lineman John Mills, linebacker Zaydrius Rainey-Sale, and several other promising young pieces.

If Washington can see that increase in funding that Fisch is hoping for, his program should be able to sustain a high level of success both on the field and the recruiting trail.
