Jillian Cox Breaks Down Some Distance Training Sets from the University of Texas (Social Kick Podcast)

Only a freshman at the University of Texas, Jillian Cox ranks among the elite distance freestylers in the United States. At the recent quad meet that featured Texas, Virginia, Arizona State and North Carolina State, Cox ripped a 4:31.97 performance in the 500-yard freestyle. Given that type of effort at this point in the season, it’s going to be exciting to see what Cox produces during the rapidly approaching postseason.

Cox recently appeared on the Social Kick Podcast (Full Interview Here) to discuss her first season at Texas and her recent bronze medal in the 1500-meter freestyle from the World Short Course Championships. Cox went 15:41.29 while swimming in an early heat in Budapest and had to wait to see if the time would hold up for a place on the podium.

In her interview with hosts Luke Paddington and John Mullen, Cox talks about some of the sets she has tackled during her first year at Texas. Clearly, Cox is putting in serious work for the Longhorns, who are looking to challenge four-time defending champion Virginia at March’s NCAA Championships.

Swimming World is thrilled to partner with the Social Kick Podcast, which offers regular in-depth interviews with some of the biggest names in the sport.
